USS FARRAGUT (NCC-3503)

The USS FARRAGUT, NCC-3503, was a Hercules-class frigate in service between 2410-2414.

The Hercules-class frigate line was specifically constructed to serve in Starfleet's task-force-based defensive strategy of the late 24th and early 25th century. These frigates were designed to enforce the borders that the Federation and her members had worked so hard to create, while at the same time protecting the colonies and member worlds of the Federation from invaders. Over 500 Hercules-class frigates were constructed in their 50-year run, a testament to the effectiveness and longevity of their design.

The USS FARRAGUT was launched in 2410 under the command of El-Aurian ex-Maquis officer Captain Raymond Valor. Her shakedown cruise involved assisting a Klingon scientific experiment that breached the space-time continuum, and things only got more complicated from there! Over the course of 2411, the Farragut had hostile encounters with renegade Borg, met the Mirror Universe's version of the USS Olympus, and managed to solve a murder mystery that implicated several of her senior officers.

Captain Leona Karn assumed command in late 2411, and the Trill led the crew for another year, encountering the Q entity, and meeting (and surviving) the deadly Kem D'Neel.

The Farragut was one of the few Starfleet vessels that did not participate in the great Battle of Coriana III in 2412. Human Commander Srbin Marko took over the centre seat following the conclusion of the Seventh War, and there was a wholesale transfer of the ship's crew, as experienced officers were in dire need across the fleet.

In 2413, the Farragut managed to cross over into the home dimension of the terrifying Locusta Regime, and encountered the entity known as the Mordant Mindstealer, before being assigned to the command of her final master, Captain James Denneson.

In early 2414 the Farragut participated in Starfleet's riposte upon the Romulans following their attack on the Vigilance Platform several months earlier. In order to blunt the Romulan offensive, the Farragut led a squadron of starships to destroy an Imperial shipyard that was the staging point for Romulan attacks into several Federation sectors. The Farragut achieved its objective, but was destroyed in the process. Her crew escaped home aboard the USS Revelation, and when the Board of Inquiry convened to hear about the Farragut's final mission, the curtain came down on a fine career.
