DESTRUCTION OF THE LOCUSTA HOME UNIVERSE

It has been eighteen years since the Federation's last encounter with the Locusta Regime in their home dimension, and that encounter was not peaceful. In 2413, the starship Farragut (NCC-3503), managing to capture and install a Locusta D-drive, travelled between dimensions to the home universe of the Locusta Regime itself.

While operating there, several senior Locustan officers joined the Farragut, seeing that the Regime had expanded beyond the capacity for effective administration and was in danger of collapsing. Rising in revolt against Karr, the Locustan Fleetmaster, this new movement called itself the Phoenix Regime, symbolising its intent to renew the Locustan Regime.

The civil war was brief, but bloody. As the Locustans moved to crush the Phoenix Regime, the Farragut inadvertently caused the collapse of the Locustan home universe by activating a Locustan super-weapon. All elementary particles in the Locustan prime universe were destroyed, causing it to collapse in on itself. Before the cataclysm, the remaining Locusta and Phoenix Regime starships jumped to other universes to continue their war across the dimensions. The Farragut returned home.

Although there have been other encounters between the Federation and the Locustans (the last being in 2416), the outcome of the Locusta-Phoenix Regime war is unknown.
