STARSHIPS OF THE LOCUSTA REGIME

The starships of the Locusta Regime are much different in structure than those of Starfleet, and have names preceded by LBS instead of USS. They do not always follow standardised designs, but most of the Locusta starships encountered by Starfleet seem reminiscent of some kind of insectoid.

The typical rank of a starship commander is Shipmaster, with his first officer referred to as Crewmaster, in charge of keeping the crew in line. The Locusta wear ebony uniforms decorated with medals and rank pins of silver - on the ground, it can be difficult to tell their officers apart from the crew, and they do not have colour-coded department uniforms like Starfleet does.

Their vessels are equipped with Dimensional Drives (D-drives) that are able to cross the barriers between universes. Full understanding of this technology is some way off, but the Locusta D-drives seem to work via the theory of folded-space transport. The organic cellular degradation that normally results when technology like this is employed seems to have been overcome by the Locusta, who suffer no ill effects when travelling between universes.

Their starships are also equipped with devastating flux disruptors and tetryonic torpedo launchers, making them at least the equal of any front-line Federation starship.
