AENAR

The AENAR are a subspecies of Andorian that lived in isolation in Andoria's Northern Wastes for millennia before being 'rediscovered' by their parent species three centuries ago. Physiologically similar to the 'standard' Andorians, the Aenar have no skin or hair pigmentation, and many (but not all) of them are congenitally blind.

The Aenar are powerful telepaths, able to read minds and transmit thoughts over considerable distances. They use this telepathy to communicate silently among themselves, and to 'see' their surroundings. They are also capable of manipulating objects with the power of their minds.

Because their population only numbers a few thousand, they rarely leave their underground city in Andoria's Northern Wastes. As of today, there are no Aenar in Starfleet, and many Andorians go through their whole lives without ever seeing one in the flesh.
