SHENG ZHU

SHENG ZHU is a former Neo-Essentialist operative known for his ruthlessness and arrogance. Sheng was born on a frontier colony in the Gamma Quadrant, beyond the Bajoran wormhole. Sheng's military career started with his enlistment in the colony militia at age 16. Sheng would later enlist in the Starfleet Marine Corps, where he would serve with distinction for the next five years, eventually attaining the rank of Major at the young age of 27.

Sheng's official military career was cut short when he ordered the massacre of a group of Klingon terrorists trying to surrender themselves into Sheng's custody. A review of the incident led to Sheng being labeled psychologically unfit for command; he was stripped of his rank and drummed out of the service. Sheng was then approached by Section 31, then headed by Neo-Essentialist leader Admiral Richard Edgerton.

Edgerton recognized Sheng's value as an operative at once. Sheng would go on to carry out a number of operations at Edgerton's direct behest, including high-profile kidnappings and assassinations. At some point during this period, Sheng was taken into the Neo-Essentialist fold, where he became a true believer and follower of Richard Edgerton. After Edgerton's defeat, the Neo-Essentialist organization began to collapse as the new head of Section 31, Selyara Chen, began to leak the identities of Neo-Essentialists to various galactic powers and to the press. Remnants of Edgerton's followers remained, however, and had targeted Edgerton's murderer, Cindy Rochemonte, for termination.

Sheng Zhu was sent to assassinate Rochemonte, who had come to the planet Elandipole IV in search of other former Neo-Essentialist agents. Sheng managed to destroy Rochemonte's shuttle, but Rochemonte managed to escape with help from bounty hunter Raxl Dreyton, who had recently agreed to pursue the bounty on Sheng Zhu's head. Sheng managed to shoot down Dreyton's shuttle, and later infiltrated the Starfleet Security Center where Dreyton and Rochemonte were taken for questioning.

Sheng assisted Dreyton and Rochemonte with their escape, promising that he would obliterate the entire colony block from orbit if they did not agree to his plan. Sheng arranged for the pair to be beamed to a remote island off the coast of the Elandipole colony. In the ensuing confrontation, Sheng killed Cindy Rochemonte with a phaser, but was then taken into custody by Starfleet security, whom Dreyton and Rochemonte had successfully alerted.

Sheng was transferred to a more permanent security installation shortly after his arrest. He is currently awaiting trial for his many crimes against the Federation.
