LOCATION: Shuttle Pod
SD [2.16] 1217.1138
SCENE: Flight Deck

The pilot had been quiet not that she minded all that much, Sofia having a lot to think about on her own. Captain Morningstar and the rest of the senior staff of the USS ANUBIS had been blessed angels. Thanks to them she had been heading to the USS PHOENIX as their new aCMO instead of back down to EARTH as a criminal where she would have continued to serve her sentence. The blonde haired woman doubted that all had been forgiven and forgotten, and she knew that now more than ever she would need to prove herself worthy of the trust that had been shown towards her.

The PADD that Commander Shar'El had handed over contained not only the reinstatement of her commission as Ensign and the transfer orders to the PHOENIX but also some very basic detail about the ship that she had been assigned to. A GALAXY-Z-Class starship, the name and class alone had been enough to fill the mind of the young fair haired woman with grandiose images.

From what she remembered of her Academy classes about the layouts of various sickbays on starfleet vessels, namely those on board Galaxy-Class cruisers, Sofia could barely sit still in her seat. The anticipation grew exponentially as the shuttle pod grew increasingly closer to its destination.

"There she is," the pilot announced with smile, the excitement of the woman sitting by his side having been impossible to miss over the last several hundred kilometers. "The USS PHOENIX."

"Wow," was all that she managed to say, Sofia's emotions having simply been too much to allowed anything else to pass her lips.

"Enjoy the view," the pilot added, "I will need to take a wider approach to get in line with the shuttle bay."

The truth had been that the shuttle could have just as easily continued along its current course and made a sharp turn as they reached the external shuttle bay door, but Sofia had not been one to argue at this point. This would be her ship, her home, her life. A new start to something she vowed to herself would be better than what had followed her graduation from the Academy and association with he Neo-Essentialists.

As it's name hinted and related to, the PHOENIX would be where she would be reborn and distance herself from the ashes of her past, never forgetting what had happened but instead learning from those events to insure that those mistakes would not be repeated.

She wanted to run right through the door leading into the ship and take in the sights and sounds of her new home, and yet all at the same time she found it nearly impossible to put one foot in front of the next. To say that she had been nervous would have been an understatement of galactic proportion and Sofia did her best to conceal that fact from the security officer who now made his way to her.

"Welcome to the PHOENIX, Miss?"

"Ensign Sofia Andersson," the blonde haired woman replied in a startled manner not having expected a member of any security force to be so polite and welcoming. "I have been assigned at the new Assistant Chief Medical Officer," she continued handing over the PADD that had been firmly in her trembling hand.

"Captain Kane is currently on the bridge," the security officer informed, certain that the woman, as nervous as she had appeared to be, would need to meet the ship's Commanding Officer to officially log in her arrival as the CMO had not arrived as of yet.

"Thank you," Sofia said, her smile threatening to shatter her cheeks.

"Shall I have your belongings brought to your quarters?"

"Actually," the PHOENIX's new aCMO gulped, "I don't have any personal belongings, at last not yet, but thank you so very much for your offer," Sofia managed to say through her growing excitement. She would be getting her own quarters, one with a real bed, a real food replicator and a real shower. Could this day be any better?

SCENE: Turbolift -> Bridge

How could the turbolift be heading in an upward direction while her stomach felt as if it had been heading in the opposite way? Sofia could not remember having been this nervous, not even when she had been brought to stand in front of the board of inquiry, then again her mind had been so numbed by what had happened that she could barely recall what had had been said.

As impressive as the outside of the ship and the shuttle bay had been, the commander deck of the PHOENIX had been stunning beyond description. The doors of the turbolift had been opened for several seconds before the Ensign managed to step foot onto the bridge as if fearing that by doing so the dream she had been in would end. A second footstep quietly and softly landed on the command deck followed by a third and soon after a fourth without the dream ending as she had feared.

As she stood in front of the door leading to the Captain's Ready Room though, the Ensign almost wished for a split second that the dream would actually end, fearing that Captain Kane might not have been aware of her earlier involvements with the Neo-Essentialists.

SCENE: Captain's Ready Room

She had pressed the door chime and the door had opened a single heartbeat after. Sofia drew in a deep breath and summoned all of her courage, this would be her first test in showing her true devotion to facing her past and making amends for what she ha helped bring about.

"Ensign Sofia Andersson reporting for duty Sir,"

"Ensign Andersson," the Captain repeated as he took a PADD from his desk and quickly scanned the displayed list appearing on it. "Yes, the new Assistant Chief Medical Officer. Welcome aboard."

"Thank you, Sir," the fair haired woman acknowledged with a nervous smile. "It is a pleasure to being here."

"I would think so given the alternative that you were faced with," the name noted, not allowing any hints of emotions to escape his posture. "I have read the reports submitted by Captain Morningstar, Commander Shar'El, Lieutenant Commander Maya and Ensign Doyanne. You seem to have made quite an impression on them. I have also read the transcript of the board of inquiry, so I am fully aware of your involvement with the Neo-Essentialists."

"Of course Sir, I understand," Sofia sadly offered expecting the man's next words to be some sort of explanation as to why he could not have someone as naive and foolish as her serving on his ship.

"Welcome aboard the PHOENIX," Captain Kane offered from behind his desk. "As our Chief Medical Officer is not currently on board, you can had down to your quarters and unpack."

"If it is all the same to you Sir, I would prefer to get acquainted with Sickbay as quickly as possible," the Ensign said, glad that she had not been summarily dismissed but still understanding that the possibility had been there forever hanging over her head.

"Anxious to get to work," the Captain noted with a mild approving nod of his head. "Very well, report to Sickbay and make yourself comfortable."

"Yes, Sir. Thank you, Sir," the faired haired woman replied, thankful beyond words for the opportunity that she had been given.
