THE SUPERVISORS

THE SUPERVISORS are a genderless race of psychically powerful non-corporeal energy-based life-forms that made First Contact with the Federation in 2410.

When the galaxy was young, the crystalline Thal harvested organic life for food using two servitor races, one of which was the Supervisors. Under the Supervisors' management, the development of organic biological life across the galaxy was strictly regulated on a number of farm worlds. When the Preservers warred with the Thal and seeded the primordial oceans of many farm worlds with their own genetic identity, the Supervisors retreated from the conflict and disappeared.

In 2410, the Supervisors made contact with the USS Patriot. They expressed regret that they had to reveal themselves to the peoples of the Federation so early (as the Supervisors saw it) in their evolutionary development. They warned the crew of the Patriot of the imminent return of the Thal to the Milky Way, and cautioned them to seek out the Book of Coreb and learn the prophecies of the Seventh War of Retribution. Their message delivered, the Supervisors disappeared once again, and have not been seen again since First Contact.

Although non-corporeal, the Supervisors were able to "possess" organic sentients, but they only did so when invited or consent was given. They seem to be a peaceful and rather benevolent people who are anxious to protect the flourishing life in the galaxy from the return of their old masters.
