LOCATION: USS PHOENIX
SD [2.17] 0508.1435
SCENE: Science Lab

New ideas and theories had been brought forth, and now everyone was busy trying to find the answers that had eluded them. It was hoped that looking at the data through different eyes and colors would yield something new, something unexpected, something wonderful.

Doctor Jos and Ensign Schad had been hard at work on this project, and even though Sofia had been right next to them, the blonde-haired woman had found her thoughts wandering to a place that was beyond the reach of her senses. All of the data the PHOENYX had received had come through a small little opening in space, one that might not even have been noticed by some. Now, thanks to that discovery and entire starship found itself working on solving a mystery the likes of which none of them could have imagined.

Sofia found her gaze drifting back to the pictures they had received. Even looking at them with limited eyes such as those Human biology had provided, the Assistant Chief Medical Officer had to admit that the creatures had been strange in countless ways. As a member of the Medical staff, her attention had focussed on the display of what had been guessed to be the creature's DNA. Unfortunately, without the actual chemical structure of the double helix it had been impossible to even begin to guess as to what the near endless combination of base-pair sequences could mean. Despite this huge gap in their knowledge though, Ensign Andersson found the image beyond fascinating.

The other image that had captured her interest was the wild mix of colors which appeared to be the artful creation of mad painter. Now that the possibility of these creatures using colors in a different manner as they did had been presented, that particular image suddenly held brand new potential. Of course it would take time and a certain amount of luck to know exactly how these creatures saw the universe around them, but the mystery was what drove the crew of the PHOENIX.

Without truly thinking about what she was doing, Sofia isolated the colorful image onto one of the independent workstations. From there, the Blonde haired woman began to play with the display settings, shifting the image into different wavelengths. As strange as the new image had become with each added effect, no visible answer came to be seen. That was when another idea came into the Ensign's mind.

"Computer, using basic three-dimensional extrapolation, show me the image currently on this station using a holographic display."

The computer could be heard working for a few seconds before the image request appeared in front of the woman. The initial shock of seeing this modified version actually caused Sofia to back away and blink several times, the colors and shapes having been quite a bit to process. After having given her eyes some time to adjust the to oddity of the display, Ensign Andersson focused on the shape and using the controls at the tip of her fingers, began to make it spin in the three-dimensional space in which it had been created into.

"What the heck are you looking at?" The Andorian Doctor asked, having caught the holographic image in the corner of his eye.

"I was just exploring a wild idea," Sofia explained, finding it impossible to pry her gaze away from the slowly spinning image. "Thought I could try and create something different. If these creatures see colors in a different manner than we do, it is also possible that they perceive the universe round them with a more enhanced depth perception. The data we received and are working with was unfortunately extrapolated onto a two-dimensional platform, which is exactly as would have been expected given the situation. That said, this is not your standard situation, so I thought that maybe adding the missing depth might provide us with something more to work with. Given what little we know about these creatures, I believe that the more we expand our way of looking at things, the greater the odds are that we may actually stumble onto something important."

Ensign Schad nodded his head, the Aaamazzarite having almost been impressed by the thinking process used to create the image that they were now all looking at with a great deal of uncontrolled interest.

NRPG:

It's short, it does nothing other than maybe teae to another possibility, but it's something that might prove interesting to explore in addition to the new color perception idea.
