HUMANS

HUMANS have been the driving force of the United Federation of Planets since its inception. Natives of the planet Earth (called Terra by off-worlders), Humans endured a long and violent history before making first contact with alien species and forming the Federation with their new allies in 2161.

There are two main genders and several groupings of Humans, with common inherited features that distinguish them from other groups, but they are all equal and part of the same Human species. After millennia of conflict, Humans have realised that their diversity brings them strength as a united people, and no longer practice discrimination against one another based on their differences. They are possessed of an inherently inquisitive nature and have spread across the Federation in many colonies.

Their homeworld, Earth, was chosen to be the capital world of the Federation at its inception, and it held that status until early 2432. Although today the Federation's capital is on Vulcan, Earth remains the headquarters of Starfleet. Many Humans have served in the highest ranks of the Federation in the past, and they are the most numerous species in Starfleet.
