STARFLEET DECORATIONS

The medals and decorations awarded by Starfleet have changed little in the past fifty years, but some new awards have been created to acknowledge Starfleet personnel who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, and some awards have fallen out of use or been discontinued. Although Starfleet officers do not get paid, nor should they seek praise for their efforts, the Federation continues to maintain a roster of medals, pins, and ribbons that are awarded to deserving personnel.

The Cadet Star (bottom left) was awarded during the years of Starfleet Academy's Advanced Command Training course (2410-2420) to the most gifted Cadet from each graduating class. Since the ACT programme's demise, no Cadet Stars have been awarded.

Next to it (right) is the Federation Peace Medal, a decoration awarded to Starfleet officers for for exceptional service in diplomacy, or for act that preserves the unity of the Federation in some way.

On the far bottom right is the Falken Medical Medallion. Unlike the prestigious Carrington Award, which is open to civilian physicians, the Falken Medallion is awarded to Starfleet medical personnel for advancing the Federation's knowledge in the field of medicine in some way.

Also pictured are several pins and ribbons that may also be awarded to deserving Starfleet personnel.
