USS YORKTOWN (NCC-4150)

The USS YORKTOWN, NCC-4150, was a Dyson-class starship in service from 2412-2414. The eighth Starfleet vessel to bear the name, the Yorktown was commissioned in early 2412.

Launched under Captain Jackson Pierce, the Yorktown was immediately thrown ito action, squaring off against Klingon pirates, Romulan spies, and even located a lost T'Kon portal planet. Halfway though the year, Captain Pierce was granted a leave of absence from Starfleet, and the centre seat was filled by his ExO, Commander Corvin Grayfax, who would remain in the position for a year.

In early 2413, the Yorktown was again on the Romulan front dealing with the fallout from the Incursion and the attack upon the Vigilance Platform in the Vega system. Commander Grayfax was reassigned in the summer of that year, and the centre seat was inherited by Commander Terik Llhweiir, a Romulan who had been raised in the Federation and became the first of his people to join Starfleet.

The Yorktown was reassigned to the Delta Quadrant to be Starfleet's presence among the Borg Federation. Shortly after her arrival, a splinter collective known as Monolith attempted to subvert the new Borg government. Joined by the USS Patriot, the Yorktown fought alongside the Borg Federation, culminating in a battle against the Monolith in its home base.

Shortly afterward, the Yorktown returned to the Alpha Quadrant. Her battle damage from the Monolith conflict was heavy, and she was sent to the reserve fleet. Her command crew was reassigned.

In 2423, the USS Yorktown was finally decommissioned and stripped down for parts, bringing an end to her career in Starfleet.
