The soft glow of the posts along the path gave the slightest hint of assistance along the path now shrouded in the great dark blanket caused by the tree tops above. Smiling softly he watched as luminescent arthropods circled over head dispersing in various vectors as if the various fireworks displays he had witnessed upon earth had come to life. Instinctively Arak’s nostrils flared as his lungs took in air as if taking in the smells of his home once more. Closing his eyes Arak slowly came to a stop allowing his senses to fill with the experiences and memories long past.

Silence filled the forest as the lamps seemed to flicker like the flame of a candle dancing in a non-existent breeze. The various calls and clicks of mammals, insects, and flying creatures ceased only replaced by the soft shuffling of numerous feet. Arak’s ears trained in on the movement his eyes remaining closed as the shuffling grew closer. Twenty pair of feet, no twelve, he counted as the number seemed to be distorted by the echos moving through the trunks of the trees. Slowing his breaths and counting the seconds between Arak smiled as the footfalls came to an end all together.

Slowly moving his hands to his lips Arak removed the inhibitors from the corners of his mouth holding them in his hands. Filling his nostrils with the still cool air he smiled once again before a soft low continued click was emitted from his mouth only to allow its frequency to increase ending in a higher pitched ticking. There was nothing given in return but Arak waited listening knowing they were there, knowing that they would hear. The breeze blew softly and a soft sensation could be felt across his face. Anyone else would have thought the breeze was moving across his face but Arak smiled reaching his hand up to feel the velvety skin of the creature now before him.

Allowing a low click to emit from his lips once again Arak slowly opened his eyes leaning his forward two large antennae moved around him. The sound of numerous feet moving began again as creature moved past Arak coming to rest at his right side. The large arthropod would shared much of its features and likeness to that of an arthropod found on Earth called Onychophora, commonly known as Velvet Worms. Much like their terran cousins the Zin’chat, as the Aaamazzarite called them were predator to smaller species; but, fortunately for Arak his ancestors had tamed the species and their purpose had become much akin to a horse.

The Aaamazzarite being a people of conscious thought and effort given to their environment also saw the potential in the strong adhesive like slime that was used by the Zin’chat in their hunts. Many structures and other materials today on the Aaamazzarite homeworld contained a portion of this adhesive mixed with the own bio-resin emitted from the Aaamazzarites themselves.

“Doz’nik dhaar cha, miqon Zin’chat,” Arak stated smiling knowing the animal would not respond in kind to his people’s greeting.

“Zee’kaar fiz’nik zarl’qa, miqon zzaaama,” a soft voice rang from the darkness as an Aaamazzarite female stepped into the soft glow of the lamps along the pat.

Bowing his head Arak smiled at the sudden appearance of another of his species, almost forgetting that the individual was completely holographic. He had not spoken in his own language for sometime without the aid of a universal translator and yet still the greeting given by his people, balance and serenity, and the reply, fullness and understanding, seemed to lose something in the translation. Slowly moving her hand forward leading another Zin’chat into the light the female slowly mounted the creature before moving onwards to the city lights now peering through the trees.

Softly clicking a response to the animal by his side Arak slid over the frame of the animal before leaning in touching his head to a segment of its torso, “Zek'tar cha vee'cha, miqon Zin'chat, Aaakine.” Lifting his head in response the creature did as it was told, swiftly and silently, my Zin'chat, home.

NRPG: Short; but, just to give a small portion of insight into Aaakine, or home for Arak. :)
