| Personal History | As a young boy, Russ saw his father as his personal hero. However, when he was fourteen, his father died in an accident while on a supposed scientific mission. Unable to accept this, he joined Starfleet when he was old enough, and began to follow in his father's footsteps. He did reasonably well in ACT, but was held back from the fleet along with the rest of his graduating classmates for some reason. While they waited to be assigned, Russ, Elan Fairborn, and Inzac Baaz waited on Mars, were they kept themselves occupied. After a few days, their new assignments came through - they were to be among the first crew of the USS DISCOVERY. He shared in their adventures until the crew transferred to the USS PROPHECY. During this time, he fell in love with a fellow crew member - Amnia Telin. He eventually realized he was not ready for life in Starfleet with love on his mind. He returned home, and was shortly followed by Amnia, and they were soon married. Shortly after their marriage, Amnia began to work for Starfleet again, as an instructor, but missed working amongst the stars. Finally, after a year or so, Russ insisted that she apply for work aboard a starship. Within a few months, Amnia was accepted and assigned as FCO to a starship. However, enroute to starbase one, the shuttle carrying Amnia malfunctioned and sent them crashing into the side of a mountain before someone was able to beam her out. The investigation of this was quick and found it to be a tragic accident, but Russ was not convinced. He hired his own private investigator, and discovered that the shuttle had crashed due to sabotage, as well as disabling the emergency transportation system. He accused the Federation of corruption and cover-up, and joined the Essentialist movement, dedicating himself to rooting out the corruption within Starfleet. |
